Artist Words:
My gourd art incorporates a strong Native American
influence that stems from my Cherokee heritage. I
also have a strong liking for abstraction and
related concepts. When I begin a gourd piece, I
think about what life was like on the reservation
and in the Wild West and compare it with today’s
world. I use the combination of these thoughts and
ideas to develop an artistic style of my own. As for
my abstract paintings, they flow freely as I a
designing and painting them. The art is within me
and it comes out through the brush. Most of the
time, I am led by the artistic and creative spirit
within me.
